Located in Windham County, Canterbury is a typical New England country town located along the Quinebaug River, in the historic Quinebaug / Shetucket Valley corridor. It was formerly a part of the town of Plainfield, became incorporated in 1703. It is approximately 40 square miles in area and has a population of 5,060 *.
