Town of Charlestown, RI

Charlestown is named after King Charles II, and was incorporated in 1738. The area was formerly part of the town of Westerly. It was in turn divided and the part north of the Pawcatuck River became the town of Richmond in 1747.

The town is very well knows for its seafood and seven miles of beaches. Perhaps one of the best kept secrets in Rhode Island is the three-mile-long East Beach, located near Charlestown's Ninigret Conservation Area.

Charlestown real estate primarily consists of single family residences and land, but also condominiums and multi family residences.

Students will attend one of the seven schools that are part of the Chariho Regional School District.

Charlestown has a number of different recreational activities, such as basketball, soccer, little league baseball, and football. After sixth grade, school-sponsored sports are offered at the Chariho Regional District Middle and High School.
